Becoming an eco-volunteer means giving a little of your time in order to join professionals (botanists, oceanologists, geologists and others) in order to participate in activities aimed at observing and protecting the environment. Numerous activities of this type are offered in Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur.
- Take part in a project of local interst in Provence with the APARE
The Association pour la Participation et l’Action Régionale, offers eco-volonteers work on building sites to discover the riches of Provence and the Mediterranean. Led by professionals, volunteers will participate in a programme of restoration or reinforcement, for two or three weeks.
- Study Cetacea in the Mediterranean with Cybelle Planete
During July and August, you can set off for a week to evaluate the impact of maritime traffic on cetacea and changes in marine biodiversity. Departing from Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, you will navigate on board a sailing ship heading towards the sanctuary of Pelagos, a protection zone which extends from the peninsula of Giens to the south of Tuscany and north of Sardinia. You will encounter in particular baleen whales, sperm whales and dolphins, and you will contribute to monitoring their behaviour and numbers.
